THANK GOD FOR OUR GODLY HERITAGE
Today is also an appropriate occasion for all in Berith to praise the Lord together. As we commemorate our 4th Thanksgiving Anniversary, we thank God for His faithfulness in raising and sustaining our church.
This brings to mind, our godly forebears. We are grateful to the Lord for raising the 20th/21st Century Reformation through men like Dr Carl McIntyre and the Bible Presbyterian movement of America which came down to us through the late Rev (Dr) Timothy Tow, the founding father of our Bible-Presbyterian movement. Thank God for Rev Tow who faithfully maintained the biblical separatist stand – for the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
The Lord not only used His faithful servant to found the Bible-Presbyterian movement, but also moved him to start the Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC). Raised of God, this institution has been instrumental in training and equipping men and women for the Lord’s vineyard. Where seminaries and Bible colleges have fallen by the wayside in compromise with liberalism, syncretism, and even the denial of biblical inerrancy, divine inspiration and preservation, FEBC has unwaveringly stood faithful these many years. Thank God that we have been beneficiaries of His grace through FEBC. May the Word of God always be our strong tower to lead and strengthen us to further the work of the Gospel.
This is also a day of rejoicing with our brethren, Allan and Gail, on the baptism of their newborn son, Zephaniah. The psalmist declares: “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is His reward” (Ps. 127: 3). We are thankful to the Lord for this new addition to our Berith family. (Do read their testimony following this thanksgiving article.)
Beloved brethren, let us persevere in the ministry that the Lord has ordained for us. Let us continue to reach out for souls in our own “…Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1: 8). May we stand steadfast in faith, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord till He returns (Rom. 12: 11).

TESTIMONY OF MR & MRS ALLAN SEAH
Infant Baptism – Seah Qi Yuan, Zephaniah
Gail and I have been much blessed by the Lord in many ways. First and foremost, we thank God for our salvation through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Who has bought us with His precious blood at the cross of Calvary. Words can never fully describe the measure of God’s love for us, unworthy though we are. All earthly things pale in comparison to God’s precious gift of salvation. The Lord has also blessed us with countless physical blessings, three of which we will like to mention here. Firstly, a roof over our heads in a relatively peaceful and safe country where the Bible is easily available. Secondly, we have stable jobs so that we are able to provide for our families; and finally, a wonderful family with two healthy sons - Zechariah and baby Zephaniah.
Zechariah has been a blessing to us in that he is sensible, obedient and, more importantly, spiritually sound through guidance from the fervent teachers in our Sunday School. We thank God for blessing Zechariah in giving him a good heart and spiritual well-being. On numerous occasions, he was God’s instrument to remind us to attend church in the earlier years. Seeing his consistent zeal to attend church brings comfort to us, not that we were instrumental in his spiritual development, but that God continues to be faithful in watching over his young soul. As for baby Zephaniah, we pray that he will be similarly blessed especially with the things of God like faith and righteousness.
We acknowledge that, as earthly parents, we are responsible for the training and spiritual growth of Zephaniah (Proverbs 22:6). We need to provide him with the correct spiritual environment by setting ourselves as good role models and inculcating the right biblical values, so that he may grow in Christlikeness.
We understand that baptism does not grant salvation and infant baptism is not a reflection of his acceptance and declaration of faith. It serves as a reminder to us as parents, and also the church as a whole, of our responsibilities to teach and to correct him in spiritual matters. It is a life-long commitment that requires our obedience to God and His Word. This includes forsaking not the assembling of the saints (Hebrews 10:25); being consistent in attending worship services and prayer meetings where we draw spiritual strength through intercession for one another in prayer.
While Zephaniah may not understand what we do now, it is imperative that we discipline ourselves and get right with our Lord and keep a close walk with Christ daily. These endeavours will ensure that when Zephaniah reaches the age of understanding, he may, by God’s grace, follow in our steps to trust in the Lord.
We hereby commit Zephaniah Seah Qi Yuan to God in baptism and pray that the church will help us to guide him spiritually till he is ready to declare and reaffirm his faith at a later age. May our Lord bless us and keep us all steadfast in faith and spirit. Amen.
